This 22-year old Serbian could be the answer to Harry Kane’s injury problems

There are widespread rumours that Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to make a move for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic in this transfer window.

The Serbian forward only moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer from Eintracht Frankfurt for a hefty €60 million, but has struggled to make his mark. He has started only four league games this season, as Karim Benzema has enjoyed a late-career renaissance and Zinedine Zidane is thus yet to fully trust Jovic.

Spurs are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, having lost Harry Kane to injury. The England captain could potentially be out for the rest of the season, leaving Spurs light on attackers. Indeed, there is no other recognized striker in the Spurs squad, with Fernando Llorente having left for Napoli in the summer. Jose Mourinho has resorted to playing Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min as strikers, but they are undoubtedly more effective as wide attackers and have understandably struggled.

Jovic would make for a good short-term fix for Spurs. He scored 27 goals in 46 games for Frankfurt last season, causing Real to shell out the big bucks for him, and while he is yet to find his feet in Madrid, a six-month loan to Spurs would be a win-win for all parties. He would get to start every week and rebuild his confidence, which would aid him after his return to the Bernabeu, Real Madrid would obviously benefit from having their big-money acquisition’s form restored, especially with Benzema’s advancing age, and Spurs would have a solution to their striker problems, all with one move. It is almost a no-brainer, and Daniel Levy should get on the phone to Florentino Perez to thrash out a deal as soon as possible.
