The home side had the upper hand in terms of xG. Tottenham had an xG of 1.60 to Aston Villa’s 1.21. They also took more shots and shots on target. Aston Villa made more recoveries in the opponent half while Spurs had more possession.

Both Watkin and Son shared the highest xG in the match, 0.68, although only Watkins got on the score sheet between the two of them. Son made the highest number of dribbles while Kane took the highest number of shots. Tyrone Mings won the most number of aerial duels.

The home side were successful in winning defensive duels in their own half on the left-wing and on the right-wing. Regulion engaged in 14 defensive duels, winning just one.

Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Cristian Romero were successful in winning aerial duels for the home side. Tottenham won most of their aerial duels.

Tottenham recovered most of their loose balls. Kane won two of his seven loose ball duels.

Aston Villa were successful in winning defensive duels in their own half. Douglas Luiz won three of his 13 defensive duels.

Both Tyrone Mings and Hause were dominant in the air. Mings won seven of his 14 aerial duels while Hause won five of his 10.

Aston Villa successfully recovered loose balls near the centre and in the opponent half with multiple players contributing effectively.

With pressure mounting on Nuno, he would definitely be relieved that his side edged past Aston Villa. Although it remains to be seen if they can continue winning in their upcoming fixtures.
